« Epiphone ES-335 Dot »
Published on 10/04/03 at 15:00My brother and I were forming a new band and I decided to invest in a new guitar. I had always been a fan of semi-hollows and the Dot was the most affordable. I bought at Feedback in Rotterdam for 499 euros.
I think the Dot is the sexiest, coolest looking guitar ever. The glossy ebony finish is simply brilliant. It hangs really well on me and I look good onstage with it. What else? Well, it has a great sound and versatility. I can switch from effects-laden ethereal janglings to thick, dripping power chords and back to clean, warm jazzy intonations. A fantastic guitar for its price range. I don't even see why I should bother coughing up 3 grand for the Gibson original.
Like most Dot owners, I find it quite a bit of a heavy muthu. I was really knackered after that last gig we played. Apart from that it's a virtually flawless guitar.
Well, everyone knows it already so I wouldn't bother. The quality is excellent.
I am utterly pleased with the Dot, my first real quality guitar. If you're a player with a great range of styles and interest I highly recommend the Dot because of its versatility. And also because it's arguably the coolest looking thing ever.
