Desiring to make the sound and music, I was looking for a versatile product. Two XLR inputs with phantom power supply to feed to my pair of Oktava MK-012, a compact keyboard, but not ridiculous (37 keys) for entering musical and some pots and other buttons to control midday. The presence of Live Lite 5 has also greatly motivated my choice.

Note: The machine also has other features provided on the site of Line 6 ...

On "paper" this device seemed to perfectly match my expectations. In practice I was not disappointed either!

UTILIZATION

The installation of drivers and apps is very simple as long as you follow information written in large everywhere. The utility "Line 6 Monkey" is excellent as it centralizes all the updates (Driver, Firmware, Software etc.).. As for the hard-MIDI setup I fumbled a bit because I never used this kind of material. So I have no yardstick to judge whether this step is done well or not.

PM: Touch is dynamic but very cold (no ballast keys). I knew and I was looking for, anyway, nothing else (requires versatility). The assignable pots force just enough to give sufficient precision handling and large rubber buttons are a joy to handle. I have not seen lag, the game is very fluid (on a 1.33 Ghz iBook G4).
Cons: It lacks some assignable pots (there is never enough!) The VU meter needle are more stylish and useful version of Live Lite is very "Lite" as it is limited to 4 tracks, 4 lines and 4 effects. In practice it quickly becomes very limited!

Guitar: The effects are very good, they warm up well for the camera in this class (remember we're not even in the semi-pro ...).

Micro: Same comment, the implementation is extremely simple, anyone can find their account in the many effects available (the more discreet than kitsch) and, anyway, all is manually configurable.

OVERALL OPINION

As I said, I chose this camera for its versatility and not because it's a very good keyboard and a very good preamp.

However, it turns out to be a good keyboard and good prémapli, the simulator amp and effects "Gearbox" is simply excellent, both in terms of ease of use on the quality of sound that it makes.

I almost bought one of Ozone M-Audio, I'm glad I waited. I won a few keys, an input with Phantom power supply design and a fool!

I highly recommend this product to anyone who, like me, are passionate about sound and music in general. The pros will find the camera a bit limited (number of assignable controls, number of notes). But fans, even warned will be delighted as I was!

Probably the best product in its range!
