SOUND QUALITY

I play on a Randall RH 200 SC (+ baffle Randall) and a Jackson RR3 <img class="smiley" src="https://fr.audiofanzine.com/images/audiofanzine/interface/smileys/icon_lol.gif" alt="" />

I have to say ... The sound is standard. As my head mainly for playing Rock / Hardrock, the pedals is perfect for the mtal (large / fat or a fruit). The harmonization 'are prcises ptent and ears (but happiness ^ ^), the sound gnral is super good.

Its been two days that I use and I must say that I'm really happy!

It's perfect for what I play (In Flames, Korn, Slipknot, KSE ,...).

I tried the MT-2 and MD-2 Boss from home, and I must say that sometimes the ankle of the Metal Muff!

Goodies: Resistors of the pedals, the sound, the simplicity sound, Polivalente, hummmm ... and sound <img class="smiley" src="https://fr.audiofanzine.com/images/audiofanzine/interface/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt="" />

I got excellent report qualitprix (80euros on the internet)!

THE FIRST thing that comes to mind is that this is trs PDAL sensitive gear with which it is used. Let me explain.

Prior to my Digitech RP350 multi effect, rendering has changed beyond recognition under the modlisation amp / speaker uses, sometimes good, sometimes horrible, but hey it's numrique is not prvu for the base.
T was the best compromise a Fender 65 Deluxe 212 simu its trs clear is grainy, quite alive and prcis, good records Heavy / Thrash / Death.

Plugs into a Marshall Valvestate 80w (hybrid) and an Ibanez RG (microphones original V7-S1-V8), I got sounds trs "cardboard pte ', whatever the rglages, fault the amp or pickups? Rponse lowest
The following is a BPS JCM800 Lead Sries and a Gibson Les Paul Studio with EMG 85/81 (I know ...) that have taken over, it's much better, but the sound still a little too loud, dry, lack of scratch my face prsence. My sidekick just playing on ENGL Screamer combo and Gibson Flying V has more 496R/500T prsence, potato. Doubtful of my sound, it plugs into the pedals and the JCM and is the slap: sound crazy, hard-hitting bass that take place, treble prcis and music, excellent dynamic!
That said, this distortion does not like active pickups, my EMG in any case, it is priori trsdpendante microphones, so I DCID board on the kit Gibson cit above (yannsolo_2005, you have the rponse your question ^ ^), like the RG towards DiMarzio or Knuckle Bar, see J'enlve .. 2 points due to a (I know it ' is hard).

The Top Boost can give more prsence and treble passages trs well for lead, provided not push the knob too far (again adpendra your rig). Del at half becomes a carrment screaming, my ears are still mourning.

Like I said above, the knobs are extremely sensitive, a change rglage with hair and will radically change your sound, allowing to find a multitude of musical colors or REFERENCE. This is both positive and rev a bit long if you are searching a specific sound, which is fiddling, but eventually it!
The gain level is consquent: quarter was a big distortion trs rock / hard FM 80 (and go up the mdiums acute in 2 / 3, to remember some groups ...) half we enter the big hairy good thrash. Del at the 2 / 3 low s'craser start, the sound becomes more rough, usable in some records (hardcore?), But it's not in my area. All this sounds plutt Rican, at least with the stuff above cit.
Otherwise, the PDAL has a reserve of sacr volume, the knob MOITI is more than enough, it was in the belly!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for three weeks, it's a prt.
I had prcdemment or test:
- Boss DS-1 (yuck)
- Line6 ber Mtal (slightly cold)
- Maxon ROD 880 Real Overdrive (too hairy for me, but good trs)
- Bixonic Expandora (weird)
- Blackstar HT Dual (not quite hairy too)
- Blackstar HT DistX (a breath and treble are planes)
- Boss MT-2 Mtal Zone/ML-2 Mtalcore (not bad)

All of these pedals is the Mtal Muff convinced me most, I shall try Nos'Box before I DCID to one or the other, but not s r dernire that plays in the same CATEGORY ...

The report is in nine qualitprix trs good, excellent in time.

The only black spot is the apparent sensitivity to the microphone and amplifier utiliss. It will not suit everyone, therefore, despite its qualities empty, you must test it with his stuff before.
This is only my opinion of course and is a reflection of my exprience, only your ears can you DCID!

ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS PEDAL - MONUMENTAL
Here I made the turn!

An inlet, an outlet, a plug-type power supply 9V Boss, nothing fancy side connections.
Question setting is complete without being complex gain, three band EQ (a plus in this price range), Top Boost (more on that later) and volume.
Two switches, one for by-pass effect, the second to operate the Top Boost.
The case is tough, but a tad bulky for small pedalboard.
Considering the price (about 80 € in nine, 50 € used), I see nothing wrong with that.

UTILIZATION

Nothing really complicated, and the settings are intuitive (very) effective.

SOUND QUALITY

Even with a low value of gain, the distortion of the grain is already present. Do not look for light overdrive, there is already typed on sound metal. The sound is quite compressed, but retains the dynamic. As some make the comparison with MT-2 Boss, personally I found the grain of the Electro Harmonix less showy and more modern. But it is a matter of taste.

As stated above, the equalization is very effective and can compensate for any deficiencies of the guitar (personally, although it helps to thicken the sound of my Telecaster), or sculpt a sound very hollow or very present in the midrange.

The Top Boost Snap foot is quite practical: It adds treble and lets out a little more time to mix a solo for example, without adding to the volume. The bad thing: The volume pot is in my opinion be exploited to shift its course, beyond it quickly becomes a swarm of bees.

OVERALL OPINION

I was looking for a pedal with a grain more modern and heavier than the saturation instead typed my vintage amp. I found my happiness. Certainly, it will never compare with All Tube preamp with a Mesa, but in its price range it does very good job.
In short, no regrets.

SOUND QUALITY

The most important thing is that the sound is HUGE.

You can see what kind of music this pedal was made for just by looking at it, and its sound will only confirm that! Typical fat heavy metal distortion. If you turn up the Mid and Treble controls you'll get a typical 80's thrash metal sound and you'll feel the need to play "Seek and Destroy". I like a very hollow sound with loud lows and highs and almost no mids. The sound is very fat and palm mutes sound amazing (I play a Jackson DK2L with Seymour Duncan pickups).

The boost function increases the volume. Even though it changes the sound color it's perfect for solos. Don't turn the knobs all the way because the sound becomes awful.

I give it a 9/10 because of the boost function, which increases the volume a bit too much. Otherwise the pedal is perfect. I also thought about buying the Dime Distortion... If you are in the same situation, think about it before spending a fortune to get the distortion of our late master.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using it for several months. I have a 40-watt solid-state Peavey Transtube Envoy 110 and I tested it also with a Laney HCM15R. This pedal provides really good results with every amp! I previously played a Lag Jet 100ML and now i have a Jackson with a mind blowing sound. Cons: the boost function, use it with care. The typical heavy metal look is a matter of taste... I personally like it :D.

Excellent value for money (I bought just when ts priced dropped so I got the Metal Muff at the price of a Little^^).

Based on my experience I would buy it again, even if the Dime Distortion is still one of the best distortion pedals for me. But this MM is a very good choice and I don't regret at all having bought it!!

UTILIZATION

Very simple configuration, plug and play! All controls are very effective. I recommend you to avoid extreme boost settings otherwise you'll get a shrilling sound. I personally adjust the mid frequency range and the sound is perfect for palm mute playing. For high-energy rhythm parts, simply increase the distortion intensity on your amp. If you turn the distortion control more than halfway you'll get a pretty heavy distortion. The Metal Muff is faithful to its name: it cannot provide good crunch sounds but it does provide everything from 80's glam rock to grunge, to thrash and black metal. The distortion has a typical US character so Vox and Marshall fans should look for something else!!

The user's manual is not very useful since it only explains control functions. But you won't need more information.

SOUND QUALITY

Good quality distortion pedal. It's a nice analog unit that'll rock your socks off. The boost function is perfect for soloing but watch out for extremely high settings or you'll get really nasty highs!

This pedal gives you a nice metal sound both with EMG and Fender pickups.

For the same price as similar products from Boss and others you get a two-in-one pedal and a much better manufacturing quality!

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it a few hours ago after testing BOSS, Rocktron and Digitech products. The boost function and the American manufacturing are clear advantages, the 3-band EQ gives you much more versatility than a single tone knob, and the overall quality is good.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again!
