DF-Q provides musical control over the sound of your drum mix using EQ curves that are specifically designed for drums.
EQ FOR DRUMS
The main controls are arranged into three different frequency bands which are punch, clarity, and attack. Gain knobs on each band control the amount of boosting for the punch and the attack bands, and the cutting for the clarity band. The range knob for each band is used to sweep through and select a specific frequency from a range that is determined by the EQ curve type. Three different EQ curve types can be selected from with the EQ curve type selectors labeled A, B, and C. These preset curves range from wide, vintage, and musical, all the way to narrow, modern, and more transparent ones. Each frequency band can be bypassed independently to hear the difference that DF-Q is having on the drum sound.
The global controls include input and output gain, high and low pass filters, a mix knob, and the drum mode selector. The drum mode selector changes the EQ curve types and gain values for each band depending on the selection that is made. No mathematical values pertaining to the frequencies, curve types, or gain are displayed on DF-Q eliminating pre bias and promoting discovery.
PARALLEL PROCESSING
The mix knob on DF-Q allows you to create extreme EQ settings and then blend them in parallel with the original drum sound. This allows you to keep the tone of the kit that was recorded while enhancing only what is needed. The mix knob can also be automated throughout a song allowing you to choose when you want DF-Q to be more or less subtle.
ADDITIONAL FEATURES
The wide range high and low pass filters offer maximum flexibility.
