The Demeter RV-1 Real Reverb is a spring reverb box that consists of two separate channels. It's a unique reverb box, as it's pretty rare that you'll find a true spring reverb (let alone two of them) within a single space, rack mountable piece of gear. The device has both 1/4" and XLR connections for each of the channels and for both input and outputs.
UTILIZATION
Using the Demeter RV-1 isn't difficult, as for the most part it does the work for you. Each of the two channels has a very similar make up, but the first channel is for a short decay reverb, while the second channel is for longer decay. Beyond this, the channels are the same, each consisting of parameters for input level, mix (essentially reverb amount), and output level. Each also has a high pass filter and a phase button. There is also a general mode section for both of the channels that allows you to use the RV-1 in stereo if needed. I haven't seen a manual for this...
SOUND QUALITY
The sound of the Demeter RV-1 is outstanding. It's a real spring reverb, so it sounds as natural as you're going to get beyond getting a room sound. There's definitely enough to work with in terms of parameters, as you don't need much to get the full effect here. I love the sound of real spring reverb, and it's incredibly rare that you're going to find it in this compact of a space. A freelance engineer brought this into the studio that I work at and it really sounds awesome. Not quite as cool as our plate reverb, but certainly it's own sound on the same level of quality.
OVERALL OPINION
Unless you're going to get a much bigger box than this, there aren't too many options out there for a spring reverb of this quality that I've used before. The Demeter RV-1 is the perfect addition to a home or professional studio if you're looking for some super warm and awesome sounding spring reverb. This isn't very cheap, but consider that you're getting two channels here! This is the way to go if you're in the market for a real spring reverb...
