Value For Money : Excellent
Installing Linux is easy (package manager). Setup is easy, MIDI devices (keyboards) are automatically recognized and configured. MuseScore is therefore compatible with most MusicXML software partitions the same charge.
The website of the publisher, in French, is a mine of information. It also has an active forum.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I use it on my desktop PC and my EeePC 901, which are very small configurations in terms of CPU and RAM. It feels a little slow on large partitions (10 pages or more), playback is jerky at times but the problem is hardware, not software. Anyway, I do not think any shareware software running on these configurations (let alone Linux!)

OVERALL OPINION

I use this software for 1 year, I had tried before nted, MuseScore is much more complete and enjoyable.
Most: ease of use with a MIDI keyboard, even with just a computer keyboard.
The least: We have to use the internal synthesizer to play the score: it is difficult to use an external MIDI keyboard playing.
The value for money is excellent (free ...). Given my amateur needs, this software is quite sufficient. Significant investment (Finale, etc ...) would not be justified.
