Best value:
Poor
Analog preamp and EQ
UTILIZATION
I have two that I use to be paired in stereo or individually.
I record multitrack often, and I use also two preamp EQ NEVE 1073 vintage, that are more colorful and whose EQ are a bit more touchy to handle...
The 9098 is what I use when I do not know what to use.
SOUND QUALITY
Very easy to use, with this subtle coloration NEVE that is very versatile ...
I used them recently on overheads for percussions with AKG 414, and a nylon guitar on which I had my Brauner VM1 stereo (quite pricy, but ... Magic!).
Result ultra satisfying, beautiful rendering, of course it works with my tube mics, but the 414, that can be very cold and "surgical" with the 1073 NEVE, sounded pleasantly accurate with the 9098.
OVERALL OPINION
I use them for 3 years.
If you like the NEVE kind of sound, I would suggest the as the first preamp eq to own because of their versatility (both with tube microphones with the good transistors), knowing that they retain an important place in my studio while I use also some other preamp EQ in this style (NEVE 1073, Vintage Design CA81...)
