Recording from MIDI Keyboard - Help Please

Hi,

I'm interested Home Studios, but am just entering here. I have Yamaha PSR-295 Keyboard. I have connected the USB output from the keyboard to my laptop. I tried recording using Cool Edit Pro. But it does not record at all. What am I missing? I also have Fruity Loops. I just want to see my recording software record, as I play my keyboard. How do I do this in cool edit (or any other software?). Please help.

I appreciate the efforts of people who have started this Forum!!!
