Characteristics are detailed in the forum and in other reviews. It has almost everything on hand that just asking to be fiddled with the result that the knobs are a little small and the small enrollments below but also readable. Some useful functions often including changes in mode (split / dual instance) are a sub-menu, but usability is really good. 128 recorded sound is more than I need because I erase the As, so I am sure never to use twice the same :-) In fact I have in the Bank A type of pad sounds, sounds kind of lead, sounds kind of crazy bass and some patches (see below) that I saved once and for all and that I change every time I use the synthesizer for a bit and I does not record anything that I use, like the old analog one.

UTILIZATION

The sound setup could not be simpler: you turn, you press, play.

The sound setup could not be more complex: it's a real synth, not a boiboite to mumuse, you either have already handled a VA or an analog, and then it goes on its own or read the manual (useful, very useful) and spend long evenings absorb the effect of each control on the sound before you make anything interesting ...

The motion to expensive Korg sequencer, similar in principle to that of electribe, with pads that light up in red like the first generation of Cylon when the sequence is moving, makes this synth a little unique. The arpeggiator is welcome.

I learned a lot on the synthesis itself by playing with the MS 2000 was my third and my first synth and VA's why I can only advise - I guess it must be like for someone who started rack with a north or a virus.

SOUNDS

The sounds are ...

Compared to what it is an emulation of the name, the legendary MS-20, it was not the beginning of an emulation of the sound. I wonder why Korg chose that name so the two machines are different, not only in terms of its course, but especially in terms of usability and the overall philosophy of the craft. Good marketing is a matter of course.

No issue with the blue box to produce sounds worthy of an analog, it has the virtual analogue of name: it sounds ultra-cool digital filter and a distortion worthy of at Boss. But I think it's his main quality, because if allowed to speak in its own register, that of the machine making strange noises, it's really a great machine! I use it in almost all my songs where I need to sound odd, ie almost all ... Blips, glitches, pad sounds shrill, strings of another world, it is very rich in possibilities.

OVERALL OPINION

I got hold of this marvel by exchanging digital sampler against a Yamaha SU-700 (which is also a small wonder digital), a little blindly without really trying. I have 4 years and have never regretted my choice.

on the other hand you must know what you buy if you want an analogue, buy one! If you want a drawbar organ, electric piano, etc.. same answer. on the other hand, if you want a blue metal box studded with knobs with red lights flashing and sounds of space coming out of audio outs, buy it and you will not be disappointed!
