Objective description:

45-watt all tube amp made in the USA with 6L6 power tubes plus 12AX7 preamp and FX loop tubes. But the amp also uses diode rectifiers (more reliable). The power stage can sport the following tube types: EL34, 6L6, 6550 (don't forget to set the bias). The combo is equipped with a custom Eminence speaker. It (obviously) has an impedance selector (4, 8, 16 ohms). And it has an Accutronic reverb using one 12AX7 tube. No Midi implementation, which is a problem for my multi-head system.
Subjective description:
High-class manufacturing quality. The chrome panel looks great and the cabinet is made of thick mahogany. But it doesn't reach the perfect production quality of a Mako Dorado or a Reeves custom.

Darn!! It has only one channel!

(5) Lots of good features but why does it have only one channel?

UTILIZATION

No, the setting isn't easy. The sound range is very broad and the controls interact with each other. But they work accurately. The FX loop is excellent, as well as the reverb but I don't recommend extreme settings. The lack of a second channel decreases the amp's possibilities and the tube fasteners make this combo somewhat delicate (try no to damage it). The bias setting controls are placed in the amp so you must open the cabinet to replace the tubes.

(3) What were you expecting? This small amp can be irritating!

SOUNDS

I immediately noted that the amp works wonders with modulation effect pedals. Everything sounds good with this amp which is the first nice surprise!

The clean sound is superb. A real delight. The EQ allows you to get different sound colors (creamy, light, warm, etc.). It is really excellent and it can compete with Fender amps. It could even beat them in a comparison.

You'll have to use the gain and the amp stage if you want to get slightly distorted sounds. The sound is somewhere between classic British rock and stunning clean. The amp is very responsive to the type of guitar you play. With a PRS, a Warrior and other guitars with high output level it was easy to get a powerful Marshall 2550-like sound. The effect loop strongly influences the overall signal (see beginning of the sound section). The reverb finds its natural place in the overall sound and gives it character.

The dynamic response to the playing of the guitarist is very important.

(9) A very good amp. I only regret that you cannot get real crunch sounds at very low output levels. 45 watts are pretty loud.

OVERALL OPINION

I used it on tour with ___ . It's a good amp with an interesting sound character. As usual: Test it before you buy it.

(7) The US price is ok for such an amp.
