Amp transistors with a lamp in the signal used in sub-scheme (flat starved
/ Starved filament)
48V; pad; limit; phase
UTILIZATION
Simplicity itself. Gain knob, knob output. One dose of color.
I used the voice of most of the time (Neumann KMS 105 microphones, Audix OM7 various Behr, T.bone SC1100), but also bass, guitar, violin, piano, drums.
SOUND QUALITY
Ah ah ah, there it thickens. it's 3 or 4 years that I have the bug and now I have invested in a sixQ of Joemeek, I begin to understand the importance of this small Behr.
If you do not have a preamp and you have used to attack your sound card directly, this little box is a great step forward. It will allow you to adjust the level. That said attention: the color is very pronounced. I did not realize but there is always a small distortion not bad ... On the voice side it gives a rock that suited me well ...
... but the big problem is that the sound is not working: most of the cuts sound exaggerated and EQ tear the ears (see my component "upon my skin") in the acute ... When I got my slice JOEMEEK I had a big blow blues: my sounds were less sharp and less sharp than the Behr. In fact, everything seemed smoother, more accurate, which in my case was a problem. But I've rediscovered the joy of sound that can hack after the catch, and there are miraculous pluggins (Voxengo Lampthruster, Voxformer, harmoniEQ, Waves SSL4000 or even for those who have no morals).
OVERALL OPINION
Conclusion: less than € 50 this preamp very largely justified its purchase, one can draw a lot if we try a type, almost too colorful "lights". But if the precision is missing (this is not always the most troublesome in the filthy rock), it is mainly the lack of versatility is missing after a few months or years of use.
Anyway, thank you for this product Behr allowed me to record songs much fair game, to many scenes with a very very decent quality for 50 € ...
