Help with MBox 2mini

I just purchased an MBox 2 mini from a guy the other day. When i try to launch Pro Tools it says Digidesign hardware is in use by another application (_1133). The guy told me to try to update the firmware, well i tried that but it says the hardware is not connected to a usb port. The lights on the MBox are on, can anyone help me with this problem? I have a G4 Mac running Tiger 10.4 and i have Reason 7.1
