Hey, if I'm recording MD portable (analog) to PC, using an M-Audio Transit, should I be able to monitor the sound as it is being recorded? Or am I just missing something here?

You should be able to monitor the sound. If it does not work, my guess is the windows mixer is not set properly.

If the windows mixer is correctly set I would look in the woftware you are recording with. There may be an option to monitor the signal.
