«  Very good investment »

Published on 02/15/10 at 16:07
Two main features have motivated my choice: Both XLR left and right, and price.
I really wanted this connector to connect my computer to my mixer (t.mix mix 1204FX).
Pros: comes with Cubase, you can switch to mono: practice, separate headphone output of the main ... what else? There are also MIDI inputs and outputs and S / PDIF, I do not use yet.
I tested it with a sound recording on an amp.
My computer is an "old" laptop for 2004 with 512 MB of RAM and an AMD Athlon 64, Windows XP SP3 ... It quickly outdated it all!

UTILIZATION

I used to catch any sound and also to listen to music with good quality.
This interface is stable. I get a latency of 4ms to recording with Cubase, it's really good!
I have not tested more than one track, since my mixer handles the tracks ...
on the other hand, there are problems reading, including listening to music, sounds parasites are grafted. In detail: a kind of cicada noise comes into fade in the left speaker and right speaker wins and it's getting harder and harder ... It's unbearable. Then after 30 seconds to 1 minute, it restarts as it came. I have this kind of problem every 30 minutes at worst, at best every hour. And then the little crackles occur too, but it's not so embarrassing to read. So I tried to install new drivers, and there the interface does not work anymore ... Too bad we return to the old walking.
For video games, it's hard. It is interspersed with silence is not good, the interface does not follow.
In short, it is mainly for recording, it's good, that's what counts for me.

Edit: After going to a computer later, and especially more efficient, I no longer meets any of the problems cited earlier. The reading is perfect. For that I use is excellent.

GETTING STARTED

No problem installing. Cubase on I struggled a bit to get the right inputs / outputs to finally have sound. But when you find the stuff that no longer poses any problem. Easy to use, really, although I'm not into the details yet.
The manual is really not much. He informs us that if the CD abyss, we can no longer use it - that's the info -. It's a good sign when a book is useless.
I put 8 because of problems cited above.

OVERALL OPINION

Glad to have this external audio interface. It is impressive enough, at least it covers my needs. The only downside: the problems in reading that spoil everything. I procrastinated a lot and read many reviews of different interfaces on Audiofanzine. I think the interfaces in this price range all pose varying degrees of problems with compatibility with the PC. So I am not deceived. For this price, I think it's a pretty good investment anyway. I have no basis for comparison, so I do not know at all if my choice was wise.

Edit: After investing in a new computer, I no longer have the slightest problem. All my grades go up by one point. I do not put as much as I can not compare to anything else.
