Yes. On the initial attack you just hear the harmonic, but once you start sliding, you're also getting the sound of the fundamental notes as you slide down — so you end up hearing more than one octave during the slide. The fact that he's using a fretless in the video adds to the smoothness of the sliding effect.

I think that's what I'm missing...a FRETLESS bass.
I have a fretted bass and can't for the life of me, get a good resonating sound while sliding a harmonic. Are you sure it's possible with a fretted bass? What am I doing wrong?
