I'm not coming on the characteristics; easily findable.
UTILIZATION
The machine is simple. And even very simple concepts that already has music software.
The sampler is frankly not that ... and fix the pitch either (but the bonus is that good ... so we will not complain too much).
SOUNDS
The sound is transparent, the dynamic is very well respected (Judgement with my ears still quite knowledgeable).
On the effects I have not really explored ... but I have no doubt about the capabilities of Yamaha at this level.
OVERALL OPINION
I think with this machine can do without Def problem if one has the right microphone, good preamp and the proper techniques of sound recording. Add to this really true effects (always external) and one can pass without mastering problem.
Compared to AW16G (I've owned too) I think the AW1600 is a hair + really accurate and respectful of the dynamics (the AW16G seemed a bit below).
For the models AW16G is fine. But I think if we get the studio environment of good quality so far released a few nimble in terms of price and take the AW1600 with which it is possible to do in my Def.
