There are more than enough for the guitar effects (see other reviews), but what seems interresting to add, is that the chaining effects may have changed all the sauces.
The technology is fully digital (you it seems).
There are 200 patches and 200 non-editable editable. But I do not know if there a program for editing patch!
In terms of connectivity is missing (to be quite full) output in stereo xlr.
Model 1 rack unit high.


I find this quite friendly multi purpose, like the GP and the GP-8-16 before him.
The issue is not tros sounds complicated, but étand given that I have a GP-8 from the year of its release (1989) and then later the GP-16, I had time to m ' adapt to the logic of the GP series.
Slight drawback when editing sounds, the button to move from one stage to another (the button "parameter" endless) jumps from time to time (not always) a few steps, goes further, and then refuses to back if you go too fast, etc. ... but more annoying than serious.
The manual is very comprehensive (as most forms of employment Roland).
My use is a bit special, because I use it as a preamp and as a multi effects, but using my GP-8 for distos.
My guitar back into the GP-100 for the preamp section, then (for sounds sarurés only) out of the GP-100 and returns to the GP-8 for the distortion, and then rerentre in the GP-100 effects.
All effect parameters can be assigned via EV-5 pedal and controlled by the pedal FC-200 that can support six EV-5 pedals.


I find the sound effects qualitée great, except some distos. Indeed, when one goes in the notes chord st 17 th 1 box or more acute, with a very pronounced distortion noises are heard "bizarre" and "wouuiz" very annoying, which are added to the sound. I think it's due to digital. Moreover, the distortion of the GP-16 was not convincing either (also digital).
For my part I always kept my old GP-8 (analog) for compression and especially for distos. I like to be sure the distos "clean" style of Boss DS-1, and I find that grain in the GP-8.
I use the GP-100 and GP-8 with electric guitars of course, repeating as with a Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amp like. But also recorded all the guitars (electric, acoustic, and bass), and the same voice. A default to have a preamp for acoustic guitar and an amp for voice. All in my PC with Cubase SX.
I do not use too many effects at once (to avoid the spray sound), and finally there to the effect that I only use very rarely, if ever.
I like the preamp section.
The equalizer is not bad, but quite complex to use.
Deadlines are absolutely huge (up to 4 sec) and the "tap tempo" and an EV-5 pedal assigned to the level of delay we are free enough.
The simply intelligent harmonizer is as good as the delays and can take up to four other notes following a standard pitch shifter, or in the range corresponding to the piece, but here it is better to know some music theory, if c ' is the m. .. comes out. I get to have its effect with the song "Balerina" Steve Vai, or "Animal" Always Vai.
And all with adjustable pedals EV-5.
Can also be simulated thanks to the Whammy pitch shifter and changing several parameters of the GP-100 with a single pedal.
Similarly, the wah is not bad at all.
I'm pretty happy as the speaker simulator, chorus, flanger, reverbs and other effects in general, except for (I repeat myself) some saturations.
I takes only 8 / 10 due to saturation.


I use the GP-100 for 97 and GP-8 for 89.
In fact I use the joint GP and GP-8-100 to keep only the strengths of each.
I had a Boss GT-5, which was very good, almost the same level as for GP-100 preamp, and effects (slightly less extensive), (it is true that it's still the same family). The distos were even better, but still less than the GP-8. (This is quite personal).
The value for money is completely justified.
I would do exactly that choice. The evidence I found in a secondhand GP-8. After this I looked for another acquisition GP-100 and another power amplifier (Brunetti) for two identical rack, even with patches, one for home, one for the local repeat, and also for concerts in case there would be any problems.
I think that whatever the material we use, we seek our own Identities sound
and once found we will try to found the same with another material.
For my part I completely SATIF my sound clean and saturated, and give me comfort that the GP 2 with FC-200 pedal and pedal 3 EV-5 further, for assignment to different effects on the same patch (Volume , Tap Tempo, Delay Level, the level of distortion, the equalizer Boost, Wah-Wah, Whammy, the level of the harmonizer, the level of the chorus, the reverb, etc ... (depending on the program of the patch )).
After the concert I was often commended for my sound, (with a "silly and stupid GP-8 GP-100"), even comparing it to that which Steve Vai John Petrucci. I took it as a nice compliment.
Ok, finally finished, and in conclusion, I find these two very complementary machines, even if it was not quite the purpose of Roland. But you really get to the bottom of these two machines to find this easy to use, and unfortunately, it does not happen in two hours!
