technical characteristics that motivated my choice:
FireWire mainly.

with what instruments / for what purpose:
vocal microphone + microphone for instrument miking
midi keyboard to control the vst
Table Tascam US-428 to drive cubase sx3

Laptop, 2.4Ghz, 1.5GB Ram, 7200 RPM IDE drive, enclosure Behringer Truth B2031

UTILIZATION

drivers are stable?
yes

What software do you use the most?
cubase sx3 & acoustic piano vst

What latency?
7.8m, I think we can do better with my hardware, but it suits me perfectly (I say that I am a pianist and I work my instrument like this)

How many tracks do you manage to record / playback simultaneously?
I've never recorded one track at a time; cons by reading, I often had occasion to read a lot (audio and MIDI together) and I've never encountered any problems.
