Best value:
Excellent
- What characteristics have motivated your choice?
the number of input output, midi in out, preamp, high quality firewire autonomous, standalone function, height, weight, guaranteed compatibility on MAC
- For what purpose?
music production studio and live
- What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Hard ,...)?
Desktop PC: Athlon 3000 +, 300 GB HDD, 1GB ram
Mobile: MacBook 13 "Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz, 1GB RAM, 120 GB HDD>> 1 partition with OSX, Windows XP with a partition BOOTCAMP
- Which instruments and systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) you use it and how connections? ...
bass, guitar, microphone, vinyl turntables (with timecode vinyls)
UTILIZATION
- The installation is done it without problems?
Mac OSX: nikel, motu recess is therefore no pb installation takes 1 minute and is immediately operational
WIN XP: same, slightly longer installation, click more to do, but in the end everything is ok, no bugs of any kind
In both cases, only a reboot was necessary
- Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
no ... not on the windows partition I was nervous given what we read on the forums ... and finally all went well
- The general configuration is easy?
yes it is very clear as well on OSX than on XP
DSP console is very comprehensive
- The manual is clear and sufficient? ...
Clearly, yes and no, in English, but actually I just flew
a French textbook would have been welcome (hence the 9 / 10)
GETTING STARTED
- The drivers are stable?
Until now, yes, no bug has yet emerged
- Are they often updated?
I do not know, a long-term view. The updates are available on the website of Motu.
- What software do you use most often?
Cubase SX2, Reason 3, 5 Live, Traktor DJ Studio .... and I plan to make soon Logic
- What you get lag?
less than 5 ms, it depends
- How many tracks you get to record / play time? ...
I have not tried to load the beast, but in any case with a dozen big style VST Korg Legacy Cell, the processor was only a 20%
see a long term ... I will complete my opinion
OVERALL OPINION
- How long have you use it?
has only 2 or 3 h
- What is so special that you like most and least?
on number of in / out, portability and simple installation, bug-free
- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
No, I inquired about any kind of forum, I hesitated with the TC Konnekt 24D, but after having had two in hand, I chose the Motu, which seemed more reliable ... and the ADAT not useful for me, for now, so I preferred the multiple input output jacks
- How would you rate the quality / price?
excellent. it is a budget, but given the functionality and reliability of the product is really good
- With experience, you do again this choice? ...
I did not yet fully exploited, but I feared that incompatibility with Windows, ultimately it turns perfectly.
can be, with a bigger budget, I chose an EMR but good for 500euros, there really is no hesitation.
