Hey guys, so I'm trying to set up a pretty weird thing where the first headphone out on my 2nd gen 18i20 runs into my computer motherboards mic input, so I can stream all the DAW audio and desktop audio to OBS. It works as intended, but when there's nothing playing you can hear pretty significant crackling microphonic noise that is not good for streaming live. Any idea why it's there? I'm using a pretty high quality cable, but not a super high quality adapter although it's hard to imagine it making that significant of an impact. What are your thoughts?

Hey,
First of all I like to mention that a headphone amp signal is to high for a mic in. It is better to use line in.
Second : the input impedance of the mic is different than the output impedance of your headphone amplifier.
I think that all the noises are produced by your computer. A badly grounded computer can act as a radio transmitter.
You will often hear the hard drive if the computer is reading or writing.
In some cases you can hear mouse movement too.
So question here is:
Are you correctly grounded?
Are you using cables with good quality shielding?
