Hi all, I know this is a common question, I have tried all the usual things but cannot resolve it.

I recently bought a Focusrite 18i8 but can't stop "popping" and drops in audio when using any software instruments/effects.
I previously had a PCI Creative sound card that was designed for gaming rather than music and never had this issue so I assume it is the fact that I have switched to USB. I used to be able to run multiple VST instruments/effects at the same time with no issue but now I cannot even run one without this happening.

I have tried a number of things such as changing power settings, disabling on board sound, giving priority to background services, disabling other things (lan etc) and nothing has made any difference.

I have the most recent version of focusrite control installed too.

Setting the buffer size to a higher number helps but only seems to really make a difference if I increase it to 1024 at which point I get some obvious latency.

I did also try ASIO4All as that was suggested elsewhere but that messed up my audio inputs.

I'm running Windows 10 on an i7 computer with 16GB RAM.

Any new suggestions would be appreciated.
