OVERALL OPINION
Bought a few months ago for a hundred dollars, I have also adapted the suspension, which is very well made elsewhere.
Previously, I went through the Tbone (450), m audio nova, a Studio Projects B1 MK2, so the microphones in the same price range. I always thought it did not used to purchase much more expensive to record in a non-acoustically treated.
The failure of these mics more or less "low end" is that you get tired quickly. Initially the sound seems very flattering, and we realize their weakness and are sold quickly.
This is not the case of MXL.
I find it very balanced, silky, soft, clear, absolutely not aggressive. In short, the qualities that are found only rarely in competition made in China.
Finally, its design is simple, no pad, no filter. it can be considered a defect. Me what I see is that it is beautifully done, it seems very tough, not pretty (the gold side is not flashy).
MXL was right to focus on the essentials.
The quality / price ratio, for me, is most excellent.
