The Neumann U 87 microphone Condenser, is an excellent microphone. However, it is old enough. It does not usually sound levels too high. I speak of the effect of U87, not U87ai which is more recent. The U87 then picks up the guitar amps like no other. It is a dream for this task. It is fantastic for singing but beware, it is not universal. According to the tone of voice, other microphones can surpass. It is not friendly at all with the "bad" singers. I seem to have noticed that if the singer does not adequately control its dynamics, or if he sings in his nose, or simply if the stamp is ungrateful, the U87 is not a gift ... It has personality. So it's a great tool which requires a fine use

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for only three months. It is a tool that has character. Splendid electric guitars, beautiful voice good. Very versatile in the studio, it is not good for everything. Guitar folk do not go very well with this microphone. I have nt2, the KM84, 85, a 414, the Milab VM41. The U87 is a complement to the microphones that j'utililse almost all meetings. Speaking of prices in these circumstances is silly. A studio using this type of micro out of the category "homestudio". I do probably never sell this microphone.
