The It's nice. the sound is huge and more versatile. can jouve full of different style. The big greasy metal to soft things just by controlling the rate of distortion.

OVERALL OPINION

But here there is a but. In a year of use already two back in the studio, Luckily under warranty. All my other pedals set its fed with the same power supply (block computer very very well regulated) and there is no problem. I really doubt about the reliability of this pedal.

UTILIZATION

There is no need to book.

The volume and level of distortion can adjust your sound depending on the desired gain.
The equalizer is designed really well and provides a range of sounds interesting.

SOUND QUALITY

The pedal is super versatile (in the metal, it is) and very quiet (even at the bottom of the balloons together with a big gain distortion, no worries and no buzz of breath).

With a tube amp, it really stands for big sound. I do not feel the need to get a pedal style lamps silver dragon three times more expensive.

I use it with an ibanez rise Dimarzio (fred) and an LTD MH 400 NT equipped with EMG 81 and 85, this sublime pedal.

For metal, there is no 56 turns for me to do.
Live, I take my LTD, my tube amp, my metal muff, delay and wah and Roll!

It is more than enough to cover a large repertoire of very convincingly.

I get hassle-free (and I'm quite a perfectionist and demanding on this point) sounds to Kamelot, Nightwish, Iced Earth, Arch Enemy, etc. ...

Only drawback: it is very modern and ultimately not very convincing for the most old school heavy metal (the iron maiden, Manowar, etc.).

OVERALL OPINION

For the price (paid € 70 new), it remains a reference for me, and it's given.

The highlight is the equalizer very effectively.

SOUND QUALITY

That's the most important sound ... EN-ORME.
Nothing that view, we know why this dja PDAL is made, and the only confirms. It's really heavy, heavy metal East, with big distos. Increase a little Mid, and Treble, and you can get sounds reminiscent of the style of 80's trash, and you break out play Seek & Destroy and other hymns of its kind! For my part I have a small preferences for the rglages prsences with a strong bass, treble and virtually no mdium. This gives her a very large, and becomes a true palm mute wonder (note I use the beast with a DK2L Jackson, rises with Seymour Duncan .... it's cool).

As for the boost it provides a louder sound, certainly changed, but idalie for soli. Put back, the whole becomes inaudible, and you will hurt the ears, so do not try and do not make your rglages a rush.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for several months. I have a Peavey Envoy Transtube 110 (40W transistor), and on any amp, the sound of thunder (try a Laney HCM15R, it's still good, really good!). I had a Jet Lag 100ML, and now I pass on Jackson and I can tell you that the sound is amazing. What I like least is the boost use with prcaution. The case is very cliché against metal, or please ca ca ca not like me .... m'plait: D.
Report quality excellent price (I got lucky, I bought it in stores in time when the price dropped, so I had a Metal Muff for the price of a Little ^ ^).

With experience, I would do this choice, although the Dime Distortion remains for me one of the best pedals disortion, but the MM is a very, very serious choice, and I do not regret!

The knobs are trs-sensitive, allowing a large variety of sounds but also warm enough ... rgler the top boost is particulirement INTERESTED: it "heats" the sound, he adds mdiums and gain, it makes your sound more "thick and dense and highlights more harmonics, makes you stand out from others when you play solo
That said, it is boring rgler trs: 0 3 trs is fine but the LED 5 is too sharp and loud: dsagrable damage ... .. .

I put 7 because of the boost function of wrong thinking and the extreme sensitivity of knobs makes it boring rgler.

It's going to be ending for two years that I use and it fills me as always.
Dsormais I use the clean channel of a head Randall Hybrid (RH300G3 +), Whereas it has more grain and saturated dynamic channel of this amp and gives her a really gnial .

It has an excellent balance between grains and Saturation, a branch of Half Stack, the Muff is rvle Metall prcise and sharp as she is more fat on a bedroom amp.

I currently play in a group of Black Death Metal and I really sound that suits me perfectly, it gre both rhythmic passages that speeds mammoth always the grain and the diabolical power!

In my opinion, a big branch of all-tube head, your exact should MRIT 10/10

-I bought it there are 4 or 5 months in OCCAZ.
-I like the quality and versatility of the sound (no, sir I did not feel rpter me!)
-As I said above, I tried a few dj MODELS ago, and I sold a zoom G2 for it.
Perso-I got in OCCAZ 60 euros so the price is the foot, but it's worth 100 euros from any fawns.

Its been two days that I use and I must say that I'm really happy!

It's perfect for what I play (In Flames, Korn, Slipknot, KSE ,...).

I tried the MT-2 and MD-2 Boss from home, and I must say that sometimes the ankle of the Metal Muff!

The following is a BPS JCM800 Lead Sries and a Gibson Les Paul Studio with EMG 85/81 (I know ...) that have taken over, it's much better, but the sound still a little too loud, dry, lack of scratch my face prsence. My sidekick just playing on ENGL Screamer combo and Gibson Flying V has more 496R/500T prsence, potato. Doubtful of my sound, it plugs into the pedals and the JCM and is the slap: sound crazy, hard-hitting bass that take place, treble prcis and music, excellent dynamic!
That said, this distortion does not like active pickups, my EMG in any case, it is priori trsdpendante microphones, so I DCID board on the kit Gibson cit above (yannsolo_2005, you have the rponse your question ^ ^), like the RG towards DiMarzio or Knuckle Bar, see J'enlve .. 2 points due to a (I know it ' is hard).

The Top Boost can give more prsence and treble passages trs well for lead, provided not push the knob too far (again adpendra your rig). Del at half becomes a carrment screaming, my ears are still mourning.

Like I said above, the knobs are extremely sensitive, a change rglage with hair and will radically change your sound, allowing to find a multitude of musical colors or REFERENCE. This is both positive and rev a bit long if you are searching a specific sound, which is fiddling, but eventually it!
The gain level is consquent: quarter was a big distortion trs rock / hard FM 80 (and go up the mdiums acute in 2 / 3, to remember some groups ...) half we enter the big hairy good thrash. Del at the 2 / 3 low s'craser start, the sound becomes more rough, usable in some records (hardcore?), But it's not in my area. All this sounds plutt Rican, at least with the stuff above cit.

I use it for three weeks, it's a prt.
I had prcdemment or test:
- Boss DS-1 (yuck)
- Line6 ber Mtal (slightly cold)
- Maxon ROD 880 Real Overdrive (too hairy for me, but good trs)
- Bixonic Expandora (weird)
- Blackstar HT Dual (not quite hairy too)
- Blackstar HT DistX (a breath and treble are planes)
- Boss MT-2 Mtal Zone/ML-2 Mtalcore (not bad)

All of these pedals is the Mtal Muff convinced me most, I shall try Nos'Box before I DCID to one or the other, but not s r dernire that plays in the same CATEGORY ...

The report is in nine qualitprix trs good, excellent in time.

The only black spot is the apparent sensitivity to the microphone and amplifier utiliss. It will not suit everyone, therefore, despite its qualities empty, you must test it with his stuff before.

The Electro-Harmonix Metal Muff with Top Boost is an analog distortion pedal. The “Top Boost” feature boosts certain frequencies for solos and has its own level control. It can be powered by 9 volt battery or the included power adapter.

UTILIZATION

The Metal Muff is extremely easy to use. It has six knobs and two buttons. It has a knob for the Top Boost level, gain, lows, mids, highs, and over all volume. One footswitch turns the pedal on and off and the other engages the Top Boost. I briefly glanced over the manual, but the pedal is so self explanatory there is almost no need for it.

SOUND QUALITY

I use the Metal Muff with a Gibson Les Paul Custom and a Guild S-300D. In my experience I have found that there are not a wide variety of USABLE tones in this pedal. The equalization knobs tend to have one, possibly two, sweet spots in their range of motion. Any more or any less and the tone becomes too harsh or too stifled. I actually think having the Top Boost engaged with the knob set to about 8 o’clock makes the whole pedal sound better and I will often leave it on all the time. This pedal has massive amounts of gain on hand. I usually keep the gain knob set anywhere from noon to 3 o’clock.

OVERALL OPINION

The Metal Muff has a ton of potential, I only wish it had a more user friendly EQ. J.D. Cronise from The Sword uses one for his distorted tone and it works extremely well for him. I would recommend demoing this pedal with the same make and model amp you own before buying. Knowing what I know now I probably would have gone with a different high gain distortion box. For now it will remain the back up distortion pedal in my rig.

ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE THIS PEDAL - MONUMENTAL
Here I made the turn!

An inlet, an outlet, a plug-type power supply 9V Boss, nothing fancy side connections.
Question setting is complete without being complex gain, three band EQ (a plus in this price range), Top Boost (more on that later) and volume.
Two switches, one for by-pass effect, the second to operate the Top Boost.
The case is tough, but a tad bulky for small pedalboard.
Considering the price (about 80 € in nine, 50 € used), I see nothing wrong with that.

UTILIZATION

Nothing really complicated, and the settings are intuitive (very) effective.

SOUND QUALITY

Even with a low value of gain, the distortion of the grain is already present. Do not look for light overdrive, there is already typed on sound metal. The sound is quite compressed, but retains the dynamic. As some make the comparison with MT-2 Boss, personally I found the grain of the Electro Harmonix less showy and more modern. But it is a matter of taste.

As stated above, the equalization is very effective and can compensate for any deficiencies of the guitar (personally, although it helps to thicken the sound of my Telecaster), or sculpt a sound very hollow or very present in the midrange.

The Top Boost Snap foot is quite practical: It adds treble and lets out a little more time to mix a solo for example, without adding to the volume. The bad thing: The volume pot is in my opinion be exploited to shift its course, beyond it quickly becomes a swarm of bees.

OVERALL OPINION

I was looking for a pedal with a grain more modern and heavier than the saturation instead typed my vintage amp. I found my happiness. Certainly, it will never compare with All Tube preamp with a Mesa, but in its price range it does very good job.

if you have a small budget and you eSite between Metalzone, metalcore, death metal I would advise you more Metalzone for rhythmic or metalcore for the lead.

The is a very heavy analog distortion pedal. The model I played had a sick feature called top boost. It can't be edited through a computer, and it's not rackable. It's got your basic 1/4" input and output, and has a power adapter.

UTILIZATION

The sound effects editing is pretty easy. There are six controls on this pedal. (Volume, Top Boost, Treble, Middle, Bass, and Distortion). The distortion knob controls gain, while the Top Boost function contributed to the higher end of your tone, making the aggressive sound of the Metal Muff better for heavier stuff. The manual explains everything pretty clearly, but it would probably only require one good read-through anyway.

SOUND QUALITY

This thing is one of the more intense distortion pedals I've ever played. I was curious to see how it would compare to its cousin, the more famous Big Muff. The main thing I noticed was the name was no joke; this is a metal pedal through and through. As such, its appeal is limited. I personally grew out of metal years ago, and I feel as though this pedal doesn't deliver the midrange that I love so much in the Big Muff. I also feel like the regular big muff has all the distortion I want, but also a lot more warmth than the Metal Muff. As such, I wasn't such a huge fan. A metal player who prefers early 90s and late 1980s tones (Dimebag Darrell, Metallica) might really dig this pedal. The top boost feature especially makes it cut through some of the more dense mixes, and gives your leads a piercing tone that really kills it. However, the lack of midrange sort of kills the pedal for me in my book, as it doesn't do any other genre much justice. It's too bland to be used in a rock context, especially since it's got sort of an artificial brightness. Metal isn't my thing, but if it was, I'd probably be using this guy a lot more.

OVERALL OPINION

I have to say, I like the sheer power that this pedal has. Sometimes if you're in the mood to create a lurching metal riff, you need just the right pedal, and this is certainly good for that. However, I usually demand more versatility out of my pedals. I don't think that this pedal is particularly versatile at all, in fact, its frustratingly monotonous. I think that for the price, it's not bad. Certainly metal players looking for a really good tone would be well-advised to spend a lot of money on this. However, I don't really think that it's worth it for anyone else. Other players would be well-advised to check out the other Electro Harmonix distortions for more variety, and incredible quality.

The most important thing is that the sound is HUGE.

You can see what kind of music this pedal was made for just by looking at it, and its sound will only confirm that! Typical fat heavy metal distortion. If you turn up the Mid and Treble controls you'll get a typical 80's thrash metal sound and you'll feel the need to play "Seek and Destroy". I like a very hollow sound with loud lows and highs and almost no mids. The sound is very fat and palm mutes sound amazing (I play a Jackson DK2L with Seymour Duncan pickups).

The boost function increases the volume. Even though it changes the sound color it's perfect for solos. Don't turn the knobs all the way because the sound becomes awful.

I give it a 9/10 because of the boost function, which increases the volume a bit too much. Otherwise the pedal is perfect. I also thought about buying the Dime Distortion... If you are in the same situation, think about it before spending a fortune to get the distortion of our late master.

I've been using it for several months. I have a 40-watt solid-state Peavey Transtube Envoy 110 and I tested it also with a Laney HCM15R. This pedal provides really good results with every amp! I previously played a Lag Jet 100ML and now i have a Jackson with a mind blowing sound. Cons: the boost function, use it with care. The typical heavy metal look is a matter of taste... I personally like it :D.

Excellent value for money (I bought just when ts priced dropped so I got the Metal Muff at the price of a Little^^).

Based on my experience I would buy it again, even if the Dime Distortion is still one of the best distortion pedals for me. But this MM is a very good choice and I don't regret at all having bought it!!

UTILIZATION

Very simple configuration, plug and play! All controls are very effective. I recommend you to avoid extreme boost settings otherwise you'll get a shrilling sound. I personally adjust the mid frequency range and the sound is perfect for palm mute playing. For high-energy rhythm parts, simply increase the distortion intensity on your amp. If you turn the distortion control more than halfway you'll get a pretty heavy distortion. The Metal Muff is faithful to its name: it cannot provide good crunch sounds but it does provide everything from 80's glam rock to grunge, to thrash and black metal. The distortion has a typical US character so Vox and Marshall fans should look for something else!!

The user's manual is not very useful since it only explains control functions. But you won't need more information.

SOUND QUALITY

Good quality distortion pedal. It's a nice analog unit that'll rock your socks off. The boost function is perfect for soloing but watch out for extremely high settings or you'll get really nasty highs!

This pedal gives you a nice metal sound both with EMG and Fender pickups.

For the same price as similar products from Boss and others you get a two-in-one pedal and a much better manufacturing quality!

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it a few hours ago after testing BOSS, Rocktron and Digitech products. The boost function and the American manufacturing are clear advantages, the 3-band EQ gives you much more versatility than a single tone knob, and the overall quality is good.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again!
