Good. It is the family hot rod. In theory anyway! The hot rods are a bit caricatured in fender (I think the deluxe), can be closer to the twins, quite enjoyable in crunch. The major difference comes from the power tubes that are EL84 (EL34 close of JCM800) unlike traditional 6L6 brand. Suddenly, the bass is less present. The advantage: a more present and more punchy (a small side jcm 800 I tell you). If you play power trio, your rhythms are less greasy, but suddenly, when you switch to lead the overall mix is ​​not balanced.

So if you looking for a small fender that does not lock you in the sounds of Stevie Ray Vaughan (like the Hot Rod in my opinion), and allow you to touch other styles (jazz, without blushing! And rock with overdrive upstream) is a killer!

I use it for more than 10 months and one month with the HP Jensen C12N. This amp, power quality / price ratio is a killer! The sound of SRV, Hendrix, ACDC, Paul Personne, ZZ Top etc. ... I had a lot of amps, I also tried a lot (100-W, 50, 40, 60 of 5, lamps, transistors, modeling), it gives me the best compromise despite its defects: no effects loop, no socket for an additional HP, only one channel (but with a guitar pedal or volume, it solves the problem that is not one!) I received it yesterday and I played with for 4 hours. No need to be more at ease and find the sound.
The only little snag "that I find is that the reverb is a little lacking for my taste. I like the reverbs very unfair, then forget.
Before that, I had a Peavey 5150 which was not bad for the repeated and concerts, but far too powerful for the home studio. And then it was a big big amp more distinctive rock or metal. The Fender Blues Junior finally suits me much better. This is an amp quite open about the different styles of rock and blues. I do not like this amp. It sounds correctly in relation to the transistors as the roland cube 60, the transistor or the marshall hughes and Kettner.
But for me the lack of finesse to serve its strat I want. For this type amps Fender Vibrolux seem more recommended than the hot-rod series.

Another big criticism I can make it is that the medium and high volume acute pierce my eardrums. I have no problem with hand-wired AC 15 and the Tech 21 Trademark 60.
That said, I shade my opinion because I'm selling this amp for a jazz musician friend who is quite happy (he plays on Start up with P 90).
The amp accepts many guitars with humbucker and jazz sounds are interesting.

Initially I wanted a small amp becaufe in pubs, we are asked increasingly to play a more reasonable volume. And my Mesa DC5 is not reasonable volume level, or my rack config.

So I had to play smoothly on big amps, which is the best way not to have grain and bran.

That's why I looked for very small amps that I can push for them to reach a level where they are profitable sonically speaking.

What I like most is the simplicity. I think it's an amp, likes and dislikes of hand. It is not seeking any adjustment for 3 hours it will change anything.
