computer music beginner, I was looking for a card with the qualities to make a good jacks being coupled to a TLM 103.
The reputation of very good quality preamps this card and its converters decided me.
In addition, I wanted something not too big to make for occasional mobile use.
I am not disappointed on any of these points.
For what purpose?
Use in home studio.
Taken his microphone (voice, acoustic instruments ...), taking its instruments (Guitar, Digital Piano) and mix.
Repetition in mixing thanks to suffisement important number entered and exit the map.
What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Hard, ...)?
SAMSUNG - Intel5 - windows 7 - Addition of Ram: 4 to 8GB - Hard classical replaced by SSDs.
With which instruments or systems (console, preamp, DtD ...) you use it and how connections? ...
I also have a preamp MPA Gold with various lamps so-called quality (Telefunken, RCA, Us Army ...) but I do not because the quality is "transparent" preamps of the EMR is perfect for me then deal the sound to my liking.
Standard USB cable to PC connectivity and classic (Jacks and XLR) but quality to the speakers and instruments.
UTILIZATION
The drivers are stable?
No problems so far.
Are they often updated?
I am in my third update on the website RME.
A small experiment is however to be able to install the driver with Win7 that does not recognize the driver immediately. I found it easily on Tutorials.
What software do you use most often?
Cubase 5.
What latency you get?
Today I work in 128.
At first I was cracking and I was very disappointed, but after several updates and Win7 driver, doing some cleaning in my PC (quasiement dedicated today that computer music, made by some pages available on the web) and turning off my anti-virus every time I bump it to have been better: I could work properly with several plug-in enabled with a latency of 250 (sorry I do not remember the exact figures )
The problems were finally resolved by adding RAM, with an SSD
How many tracks you get to record / playback simultaneously? ...
Dorénavent, I can stable and something that suits what I want to do:
6 tracks voices (with EQ + reverb)
1 track digital piano (EQ + Rev)
4 tracks guitar (2 tracks per guitar: 1 electro and the TLM with Rev + + EQ sometimes different effects)
3 tracks percussion (Tablas taken with 3 pickups with EQ + Comp or rev)
and sometimes one or two midi tracks (Bass numerical or string can)
While the latency 128 .... currently running here ...
