My choice was motivated by the reputation of the brand, that it is portable and there was enough inputs and outputs for connecting to all without having to disconnect and reconnect the machines MIDI or my microphone. And the fact that this version mk3 integrating effects and CueMix that looked easy to understand.

I use it for the month of September for electronic music composition, but also record guitar, synth and rs7000.

My setup is a PC tower dedicated solely for music. Core 2 Duo 3.16 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, a motherboard with gygabite controller texas instrument firewire hard disc and two Samsung 500 GB. Before I had a laptop toshiba satellite A100, which is two years old, I had problems with him latency and power too limited. So I can say is that you still have a good PC. Level quality of the recordings I am very satisfied, it is clean and dynamic, I do not have much thing to do on the sound that is registered, no need to take the lead to make up for her.

UTILIZATION

Installation is no problem with the drivers CD, for now do not go to the motu drivers on the site, they do not work.

Level conflict, I had trouble with my laptop, but it's more because it was not for I think. The PC with the Tour and bin is fine.

The configuration is simple, the CueMix is quite clear, we must get used to, but then much simpler than my old Hoontech. Still a little worry is that the exit and hand phones are not really separate. So for now not possible to transfer the hand to listen to the headphones. Maybe in the next maj ca be possible if there are Maj (they not look at s'affoller motu)

The manual is in English, French is the pdf on the installation CD, not against by super translate and it's a mix with the manual of 828. So it's not very serious. I put 8 in the manual, but good people come here.

GETTING STARTED

The drivers are stable, yes, they are not updated in the moment and finally update the drivers offered on the site do not work.

At lag I'm running buffer to 192, I went even lower, latency is 5.7 ms. Above all that the latency is related to the PC, the more powerful the PC is less than y 'will, which means we can reduce the buffer of the card without having audio dropout. So you need a good PC!

At the moment I record a track at the same time, after reading level, jsuis happened to a dozen without worries. I think I went much further.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4 months, what I like most is the quality of recorded sound, ease of CueMix. Being able to equalization of dealing or using the compressor. There a very good momentum, even for listening to music, there is a big difference listening.

What I like least, not much room behind at the jacks, they should not be too big for the main outs and I use neutrik bin they touch, oh yeah shame that the hands are out not xlr.

Before that I had on a 386DX guillemot and a DSP 24 Hoontech home.

I would do without hesitation that choice, now it is a pleasure to do sound, I lose no time, I'm going faster, and the creation is so easy.
