Condenser microphone, large diaphragm, powered by 48 volts.
Its cardioid directivity is not omnidirectional, which has a big difference! The rejection is effective, behind the capsule.
On the body, we can see a golden disc that shows the good side of the membrane to expose a sound source (eg voice).
The membrane is vertical, parallel to the grid, it stands (or upside down) facing the source, like a Neumann U87.
His suspension is a bit spartan, but it can be replaced by a real elastic suspension anti-vibration.
It is a micro general, the home studio, at very attractive price.
Be aware that musicians have recorded an entire CD with only one NT-1 at home! Why complicate life when you have ears?!

OVERALL OPINION

I bought it at its release in 1999, at the time the price of nine was sacrificed. I still have it, and I recommend it for voice.

A weakness: no low-cut filter, which makes it very susceptible to serious too intrusive, that may frighten some of its large membrane.
This implies a good correction to the console, right off the bat

I would do this choice, anyway, for its robustness, its bill, its padded box (at the time, but not now), its price, its nice face ... borrowed from Neumann, its tone and its definition clear across the spectrum.

Enjoy!
