So in fact, I add this opinion because I have an older model 50 ... screamer That of the mid-90s, which has only two channels + reverb + bright contrast to the new model (previously chronicled here that 2x2 + channels reverb)

The first screamer 50 has the same vintage look of good quality blues screamer as chronicled in these pages.

At this preamp box with four 12AX7 (which I replaced with 12AX7 LPS for warmth) and 2 ECL 883 for the power amp. So an all-tube combo that sends the paté ...

Unlike the new version, this amp is not equipped with an enclosure but a celestion V30 Celestion speaker G12K85, sister of the legendary G12k100 the sound much warmer than the V30

The settings are very simple (3-band equ, clean gain, gain lead, lead presence and a master + spring reverb of the most effective ones I tested)

Down the "bright" gives a blow fishing solo, or compensates for the sometimes too serious / hot Les Paul type guitars over funky rhythm (for example)

UTILIZATION

In terms of sound, it's heavy! The 50 watts are more than fully recouped, such as repeat, I put it at 1.5 / 10 and it is more than enough to play with a drummer who hits hard, without losing too much momentum and the power of the lamps. .. But it is between 2 and 4 that lamps give their full capacity, perfect for live in a small room! From 2 to master the beast takes a grain of both fat and super accurate appreciated.

I bought used without a manual, but it is nothing, just turn the knobs, but also sensitive, allowing settings moults

The dynamics are impeccable, the speaker responds to the quarter-turn ... on the other hand should spend some time on its settings for the ITS, because this little wonder can really different personalities to express themselves. I play in a style that can vary from jazz to hardcore way No Means No, and it fits very well in two styles ...

A little research with the knobs you can go from crunch to the angry AC / DC, close to its full bass to Panthera ... It may be somewhat limited in the more extreme styles (grind, death metal etc ...) with good pedal Although everything should work out.

SOUNDS

For me it's the perfect amp, I fell in love the first fifteen minutes, power and light, noise and blues ...

I play on a guitar and a Sportster Italia Ibanez EX, I just added an old analog delay and a flanger DOD in 1979 (also analog) In order to vary the pleasures ...

The sound of the amp meets each of these two totally different guitars to the grain (the Italia guitar is a typical pure Les Paul, Ibanez and Ibanez is one of ... 90 years, so suited to his super fusion Funk / Metal to the Red Hot / Infectious Grooves) The two get along well with guitar amp ... roughly the fucking amp, he walks to death!

The only downside, the sound of the amp, no adjustments may seem a bit "runny" in distortion (as Marshall), but once mastered the beast, it sounds the thunder god, bold but precise, loud but heavy! The clean sound is warm and very clear if we played on Gibson and super crystalline or very slamming on Telecaster guitar genre or Start (beware of sharp piercing of ears)

OVERALL OPINION

In general, what about ... this amp is a blast, everyone (pros and non pros) who play rock and that I did try asked me if I would sell them on (and in the heap are those that affect Mesa Boogie, Fender Hot Rod, Hiwatt etc ...) so they're excited by the beast ... I do not sell (except death threat) because I think I have found the perfect balance between raw power and portability, its shimmering light and saturation sick ... This amp is everything a 50W combo may work better!

Newer models are much more of screamer Screaming Metal and focused, while the latter is much more "RocknRolla Spirit" while having to sell its wholesale to those who really want ... All that to say that there is a difference between the two versions, and I much prefer the old to the new because of its wealth and grain ... The settings are probably more difficult to obtain, but the end result is final!
