« The Ice Ice blood! »

Published on 08/14/13 at 01:48
Delay with the following algorithms:
Digital: the delay that everyone knows
Dual: Dual delay that can be connected in series or parallel
Pattern: delay doing rhythmic repetitions a predefined
Reverse: delay repeats which are made from a "read from the end to the beginning"
Ice: indescribable and beautiful
Duck delay which rehearsals start (if set) when no longer attack the strings
Swell: slowgear kind of repetition
Trem: tremolo on rehearsals
Filter: Filter rehearsals with filters such as: telephone, megaphone ...
Lo-fi: Decrease "quality sample" in terms of bits and hz
dTape ™: tape delay
dBucket: similar to the previous one (for me) but with another grain.

not to mention a looper 30 sec.

There is an effects loop into which you can plug an effect that process repeats and not the dry signal (sound played live)

200 presets (including setting mix is too high for my taste)

output mono / stereo

small pedal (for what it does) and very light.

UTILIZATION

Underfoot was afraid she moves, due to its weight but it is not: the pellets (put yourself, the pedalboard friendly include interest) are really slip.

It is easy to get a sound, but it takes a long time to get the sound you have in mind because the settings are numerous and not all directly accessible:
you have the buttons:
Time: corresponding to the BPM or ms between each repetition (note that this value is only readable on the screen ... so that other settings "buttons" are approximate ...)
Repeats: the number of repetitions before we hear no more delay effect
Mix: This is set when the signal will be located between the dry (do not hear) and wet (we only hear the rehearsals)
Filter: plays on grain delay
Grit: deteriorates the signal with a "slight distortion."
Mod Speed: speed of tremolo repeats.
Mod Depth: depth of tremolo repeats.

good, you say ben gonna, it's simple except that, depending on the selected algorithm, some buttons have other functions and then the manual (26 pages in English very simple and very well done) is essential .

but not all, other parameters (the number varies depending on the chosen algorithm) are accessed by holding down a button for instance:
Smear: The sound is slightly "as wrapped in fog," accentuates the effect hovering ..
High Pass Filter: cut certain frequencies in rehearsals
Repeats Dynamics: indicates whether the rehearsals must have the same dynamics as the original or should be smoothed.

Short moult parameters, some of which have very little impact on the final rendering (if playing alone) see no value if we play as a group (as covered by other instruments).

If you edit a preset setting, the button switch activated exchange (orange) if the setting is different and green if you are returned to the initial setting. For cons, the algorithm change change (we know why) BPM patch you edit ...

The looper is easy to use, adjustable "pre" or "post" delay, and can, depending on the setting, continue to play his sentence regardless of whether you play above all using another patch of the Timeline.

Change bank requires operator to press two switches at the same time, so that we constantly plays clappers, so using a midi controller is welcome.

Note: The following section applies only to my personal use with only midi controller I have. maybe use varies depending on the controller used.

I use a Boss GT3 for controlling (because I always use some patch gt3). There is no problem to define the CC # to control via midi (note that some wacky settings looper are accecibles that via a midi controller) but I have a big problem with PC # commands: the midi map the Strymon is not editable from the pedal and my controller does not allow me to do so. So that each patch of the Timeline is assigned to each patch GT3 without any possibility to change the order of patches:
Patch 1.1 gt3 launches patch 0.A the timeline
Patch 1.2 gt3 launches patch 0.B the timeline
The 1.3 patch launched gt3 1.A patch timeline
Patch 1.4 gt3 launches patch 1.B timeline
...
and the change of active patch effect (so it is not bypassed), which forces me to use a different preset on the Timeline (and sometimes with a mix to 0 if I want to bypass) for each patch Gt3 ...

No USB for updates ...

So if we summarize many settings (it is), imprecise because no visibility on the screen (this is bad but it is not as dramatic as ca), not change the midi map via the pedal (this is wrong) so for me it is "Poor" especially for the price!
If you do not use MIDI (or you can edit the midi map the Timeline via midi controller) then 7/10

SOUND QUALITY

It's simple: this is identical to the sound of the Strymon channel on youtube.

This pedal enhances your sound so we want to put all the time!

10/10

When I told the members of the group (www.facebook.com / warlusmusique) that I would take this pedal, I got to "we do not know this brand" and "it's too expensive." .. Now they say "we have a unique sound!"

OVERALL OPINION

2 months of use
great sound
one afternoon to review (in my current config)

It has become indispensable in the set and I did my mourning "wasting time" with MIDI (one patch GT3 = a patch of the Timeline.

it is not perfect in its use (visibility settings) but relativize: is that to see that we have set the "repeat" is 30% instead of 35% thanks to the reading on the display change he got his radically .... not

9/10 but
very expensive: € 440 is the price of a PS12 or laptop computer ... It could be 340 €
therefore
concluded
8/10
