I bought this card about 6 months ago, and I even suggested to several friends who are extremely satisfied. (They use almost the same as mine).

I wanted to make mao, to finally put my audio riffs in guitar and bass. and incidentally fly VSTi (EZDrummer in particular).
I started with a sound blaster live, and the ASIO4ALL driver, made not too bad, but clinched when using multiple effects (guitar rig 2, among other things).

UTILIZATION

First installation, the first galley. Indeed, we must know that E-MU was acquired by Creative Labs, and the installation of drivers is more capricious if it had already produced such a sound card installed in them before, which was my case.
So installing the drivers, reboot and ... nothing, saying no card is detected.
I had not deleted the drivers for the SB Live, which has caused an error in detection. Solution found on a forum, you uninstall all sound cards, and we start the installation ... you configure the card by referring to the manual (the PatchMix not obvious to understand, even if it knows a little, I not find it easy to access) fortunately a preset is available and sets the concerns quickly (CF Manual ).
Since I needed to format my pc, and I reinstalled the card in less than 5 minutes. And everything works perfectly the first time!

GETTING STARTED

In my case, no worries at the stability of drivers, absolutely no worries in sight. I use it mainly with Cubase 3 and Guitar Rig 2 on stand Alone.
Since I have the card, I saw only one update.
Latency level, I turn to about 10, below, sometimes I have some cracks, it all depends on what one has the effect using the resources of the card. Plus there are, the less you can go dormant.
Record level, I'm just the acquisition of track by track.

OVERALL OPINION

I have the card for 6 months.
This is certainly the best value we can find.
However, I regret that we can not boost the volume a little more input, because with my guitar (Epiphone SG Special Cherry) the amount obtained in cubase is pretty limited.
So I invested in a preamp Berhinger MIC200 TUBE ULTRAGAIN. and no worries since.

Without hesitation, I would do this choice.

Petit, trs small! And is a strong point, especially when looking at beginners and the computer music was not excessive but need to connect more to have a good panel and a map to have low latency etc ...

Installation:
As long as we know install a PCI card, installation is no problem (note that windows dclenche a warning on the certification of pilots, but this does not affect the right operation).

Incompatibility:
So l. .. worries! On Windows there is no problem but on Linux Alsa drivers have not yet dvelopps t! So no sound unless you use the chipset Intgr card when you switch to Linux (or have a second sound card).

Configuration:
I said earlier that it was good for beginners in investissment computer music. I will Modre somewhat this statement because the configuration is not very easy (unlike). Well it does have two ins and two outs which is perfect. If you get the Audiophilie 24/96 it will only have one in and one out. And both of these soundcards cost a 100 bucks which is cheap if you have a tight budget. the only thing that was missing was the multimedia speaker connection which was a huge hastle to get. thats the only downfall of this soundcard.

Well basically first things first if you don't have a mixer you might as wellput it back on the shelf until you have the money to buy it. Cause thats what happened to me when I brought it. SO users beware whien you but this soundcard it dosen't support regular multimedia speakers you muat have the mixer. or a y adapter which is impossible to get unless you order it from the internet on E-MU website. The sound quality is excellent no problems and complete zero latency which is super if you need perfect studio production.

Yea its pretty nice you wont go wrong with the soundcard and I never had any problems only when I needed that mixer but you'll learn to love it almost like it grows on you

For $100.00 USD you can not beat this sound card anywhere on earth. I have seen them on sale for as little as $70.00 the most fantastic thing about this card is the sounds that come along with it. PROTIUS-X LE is a light addition of a E-MU product that has over a thousand sounds about thirty drum kits and massive synths and abouve all else it has greate sounding horns!!! It is Perfect for the beginner to expert. It comes with a varity of audio programs such as CUBASE LE my fav. sonarLE and ABLTON LIVE LITE not to mention all the other plug in effects. try it I recimendit to all my students...

I love it.
