I bought this card because it supports ASIO 2, Cubase, it has more inputs / outputs and has a low latency.
I use it in my home studio for making his voice / instrument or to dub a sound module or synth. I seldom lack of when recording.
My config: P4 3.2 GHZ, ASUS CM, 2GB DDR, 160GB of disk.
I use it with a lamp prampli ART for my condenser microphone with a PODxt, for which the record is as good with this card directly via USB.

It's generally a good map, efficient and simple. But it is not powerful trs trs. I arrive in 24bit/98kHz easily crack or 3 or 4 virtual instruments ...

UTILIZATION

Installation is very simple. Since I had a dj midi interface M-Audio drivers taient Submitted, so I did not need the CD. All software DTECT no problem associated with the ASIO driver the card is easy!
Up Submitted, I had no incompatibility with my software, and no conflict with other hardware lments.
It is a simple card set trs. All paramtres runic is a panel you can change the o to frquence chantillonage, the buffer size for latency, levels of input / output ... etc..
The manual is succinct and English trs. Any fawn, I do not need.

GETTING STARTED

The drivers are stable. Although sometimes it crashes when I save the south, and it's ASIO does not work anymore (thundering). I then have to restarting the PC to the card with my rutiliser squenceur. The update, which are rare, do not really have this problem solution. But since now I work primarily with real instruments, I use less than the south, and it works like clockwork.
I use it with all my audio software (Cubase, Wavelab, ...).
I walk gnral 24bit, 44kHz, with 256 samples per sample, and the latency of 5ms is almost inaudible ...

OVERALL OPINION

I use this card for the past 4 years. This is convenient for connections to have an external box computer, MMME if once in the studio was not moving. It is well suited what I do, but I regret that she eats too much CPU. I have never had any other, so I can not compare. But if I had the choice again, I think I would look for a card with the same CHARACTERISTICS but more powerful.
However, it remains a good value qualitprix trs (~ 150)

I was looking for a sound card with the bare minimum I needed: a PCI card with a jack or two entries, preferences rack, and a Stereo output, with a trs good to avoid the latency DSP ... and I had everything with that l.

When I bought it I had no guitar amp and suddenly I could only connect my guitar on the pc and use an amp simulator. So now I plug either a microphone positioned in front of my guitar amp or my guitar directly, and then always a microphone for voice, harmonica or percussion.

UTILIZATION

- Installation is it without problem?
Installation is on-can-do-more-simple: It plugs into the PC, the PC is switched on, the windows DTECT, we choose the right drivers (rcuprez the latest version of the manufacturer's website before to get the latest version), and voila!

- Have you experienced any incompatibility?
No incomptabilit however, I regret that M-Audio does not dveloppe drivers for Windows Vista.

What motivated my purchase:

- Compatible with Linux (ICE1712 + module Envy24 mix)

My config is Asus CM / Core2 Duo 2.2 GHz / 1 GB of RAM on GNU / Linux Debian. I use this card for personal records.

UTILIZATION

Installation is no problem set by the choice of PCI. There may be conflicts of IRQ rsolus easily by reversing the arrangement of cards.
Under Linux, there's nothing else to do, the ICE1712 module is loaded automatically. Once you install the mixing SPECIFICATIONS Envy24 there do anything.

I just discovering a new driver for my OS (xp sp2) amliore GUI, I love. He seems to be stable.

- What software do you use most often?

Wavelab 5, Ableton Live 7, acid 6, Reason 4.0, Cubase SX3.

- What you get lag?

96kHz - buffer 64 samples:

Ableton Live 7 Indicator 1.11 ms of latency, and 0.96 ms latency output

Propellerheads Reason 4 shows 0 ms. weird ...
With the latest driver, my programs are set to 0 latency.

The appearance of strong and serious stuff (rack metal rack compact and cable / PC as big as your thumb). Quality of its nickel output (I put my system to listen twice as hard now ...)

UTILIZATION

the drivers are very stable, no problems over time, the updates are not frequent, but as long as it works ca poses no worries. Most often I use it with cubase sx2, zero-latency direct monitoring, and in most cases 8 ms mixing.
maximum track reading a dozen and a dozen audio midi, note that in my system is my processuer the limiting factor, I never reached the limit of the delta 44.

The drivers are pretty stable but there are still some crashes, it is nevertheless a powerful machine (Athlon XP or P4 min) for the drive without soucis.Les drivers are often made jour.Avec latency 9 ms things in place or VSTi effets.Je have yet to record multiple tracks at once but I happen to have 60 tracks read without crashing.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 6 months and I love it for its stability even with the bus VIA KT133 it works I totally have tried the Terratec and Audiowerk8?. The quality / price is very correct and if you want to use Cubase or Nuendo Midiman (subsidiary of Steinberg) made this card for you.

The main reason why I bought this sound card is that it was a bargain on ebay. M-Audio products have a very good value for money, they are Mac compatible (I have a Mac G4). I wanted an external interface because they make connections easier. The two ins/outs are enough for me to connect my mixer.
